The Rockton-Roscoe Rotary Club's annual Rib Fest once again brought together great food, friendly competition, and community spirit.
Each year, local fire departments compete for the coveted People's Choice Award for the Best Rack of Ribs in the Stateline area, and this year's competition did not disappoint. With record community attendance, four departments fired up their grills: Rockton Fire Protection District, Rockford Fire Department, South Beloit Fire Department, and Shirland Fire Department.
After hundreds of votes were cast, the Shirland Fire Department earned top honors for the third time, taking home the People's Choice trophy.
Proceeds from Rib Fest support scholarships for graduating seniors from Hononegah and South Beloit High Schools, as well as the club's annual literacy project.
Beautiful weather, an incredible turnout, and record-breaking fundraising made this year's Rib Fest the most successful yet. Congratulations to the Rockton-Roscoe Rotary Club, the participating fire departments, and everyone who came out to support this outstanding community tradition!
