The annual district Training Assembly occurred on Saturday, April 6, at Sauk Valley Community College, Dixon, Illinois, from 9-11 AM. Sixty Rotarian leaders from across the District gathered to conduct official business, such as approving the 24-25 District budget, and to hone skills that will help their clubs serve their members and their communities effectively. DGE John Hurley welcomed the attendees and Governor Dave Emerick encouraged everyone to register on line for the District Conference, April 26-27.
Our Rochelle Rotary Club was very excited to present our first ever Rochelle Rotary ‘Service Above Self: Student of the Month’ award to Julia Livingston from Rochelle Township High School in Rochelle, IL. Julia was chosen because of her many hours given back to our community including volunteering at the The REC Center, giving her time to tutor fellow RTHS students in need, helping out at the Flagg-Rochelle Public Library, and more!
On March 9th, the Dixon Rotary Club hosted its annual Shrimp and Chili Bowl fundraiser. Funds raised from this event go towards the club’s literary campaign and college scholarship program. A very big thank you to all who participated and supported this event.
Sharing “center stage,” (L-R) PCHS Music/Theatre Director Natalie Hulstrom and Putnam County Community School District Superintendent Dr. Clayton Theisinger gratefully receive the donation of Putnam County Educational Foundation Board Chair and PC Rotarian Reed Wilson and Putnam County Rotary President Adriane Shore. The combined donation of $6,000 will help fund renovation of the High School auditorium’s stage lighting system.
EarlyAct/Interact/Rotaract SHOWCASE 2024 has launched! Submit a brief article and a few project pictures showcasing what your EarlyAct, Interact or Rotaract Club has been doing this year!
ShrimpFest & Brew Hullabaloo is planned for Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Rotary Park in Princeton, IL. There will be fried or grilled shrimp available -- served by Princeton Rotarians.
5 area 6 clubs will come together on May 1st for a 2nd annual joint meeting. This years speaker will be Dr Sarah Scruggs, CEO of Arukah, focusing on an approach to Mental Health.
A chartering ceremony was held March 27th at LaSalle-Peru High School for the new Interact service club. Interact is the high school version of Rotary.
I'm pleased to report all Clubs have met the training requirement and are eligible to apply for up to a $1,200 District Grant for the 2024-25 Rotary year. Grant amounts must be matched by your Club and are available to support a local community project of your Club's choice for a total impactful grant of at least $2,400. The possibilities for projects are endless!
District Governor, Dave Emerick requested all Rotarians in district 6420 to donate 20 pounds of food to a local charity as part of his “Create Hope Food Drive Challenge”, which is certainly a great way to support our communities and those in need.

The Ottawa Noon Rotary and Ottawa Sunrise Rotary Clubs partnered with the Ottawa Fire Department to purchase an inflatable Fire Education House. The purpose of the 14’X 24’X12’ three room house is to educate the public on fire safety.
