Dear Peacebuilders,
I am delighted to invite you to the Education and Literacy Peacebuilding Conference, taking place in Chicago on 2 June, to discuss successful strategies for empowering youth and communities to reduce violence through access to safe and quality education for all students.
A strong foundation in education and literacy is essential for reducing poverty, improving health, encouraging economic and community development, and creating more peaceful, thriving communities. Hosted by Rotary Zones 28 and 29, the organizers have planned an outstanding program where we’ll discuss the relationship of education, peace, and the role of youth and educational programming in mitigating conflict.
Join community members from throughout the world, education professionals, students, and other thought leaders to explore local, national, and international peacebuilding opportunities through education. You will leave the conference motivated to expand existing efforts or initiate new ones locally and abroad.
I look forward to joining you in Chicago for the final of six peacebuilding events we are holding around the world, as we come together to Make a Difference by discussing challenges and identifying opportunities to address some of the most pressing concerns of modern times.
Sincerely,
Ian Riseley
President, Rotary International
