October 24 is World Polio Day, and for me, it’s one of the most meaningful moments in the Rotary year. It’s a time when we’re reminded of what Rotary can do when we come together with focus, heart, and determination.
For nearly four decades, Rotary has been leading the fight to end polio — and we’re this close to finishing the job. That’s something to be proud of. But it’s also a reminder that the work isn’t done yet. Every fundraiser, every dollar, and every conversation about polio brings us one step closer to making history.

I’d love to see every club in our district do something — big or small — to mark World Polio Day. Host a walk, wear your End Polio Now shirts, light up a landmark, plan a fundraiser, or simply share polio facts at a club meeting. Every effort matters.

To help make it easy, Rotary has created ready-to-use graphics, videos, and messaging that your club can download and use. You can find them on Rotary Brand Center here: https://brandcenter.rotary.org. These tools make it simple to spread the word and build awareness in your community.

And please don’t keep it a secret — share your events and stories! Post them on social media, tag the district, and send us a quick note or photo so we can help amplify your impact. When your club steps up, it inspires others to do the same.

And remember — the fight against polio doesn’t end on October 31. Rotary’s commitment is year-round. Every dollar you give to PolioPlus is matched 2-to-1 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, multiplying the impact of your gift and moving us closer to a polio-free world.

This is Rotary at its best — a global effort with local heart. Let’s make some noise this month and keep the promise we made to the world: to end polio, once and for all.
