The Rotary Club of Walnut had its standard 3rd Saturday meeting and then members met at our storage unit and unloaded collected aluminum cans into a semi-trailer (donated by Thacker Farms)...those cans totaled 3200 pounds. Cans are left by residents in the grain wagon located in town behind the Casey's on US92.
Every week or so, a Rotarian with a trailer hitch on their vehicle tows to our location and they get collected until the price for aluminum is "fair" and then we recycle. As you can see for the slogan on the grain wagon, "Cans 4 Kids", ALL of the money from the cans gets earmarked by the club for kid related programs or projects, a few of them are:

Milk Program for both Bureau Valley Elementary Schools
Summer Buddy Bags (meal) program
BVHS After Prom
School Supplies all year long, among others.

This is a GREAT service and community project and we wanted to share.
