The Twin Rivers RAH, Moline, and East Moline-Silvis clubs joined forces on October 5 for a community service event. Nearly 30 volunteers (representing six different clubs) came together to assemble over 500 hygiene kits and menstrual products for local women and children facing hardship.

With funding from their combined district grant, the three clubs purchased essential hygiene items, including menstrual products, leggings, and underwear. These kits will be distributed between the YWCA Quad Cities Women’s Empowerment Center, as well as to middle and high schools in the Rock Island-Milan, Moline-Coal Valley, East Moline, Silvis, and United Township School Districts.
The project aims to reduce absenteeism among students by providing them with necessary products that allow them to focus on their education. In addition to the impact at local schools, the initiative aligns with the long-term goals of the YWCA, which works to empower women to achieve stability in a time of crisis.
“This event truly exemplified the spirit of service,” said Amy Schaefer, Director of Empowerment Services at the YWCA Quad Cities. “These hygiene kits will make a difference, providing comfort and dignity to those in need.”
