Two exceptional young men were awarded the Peru Rotary Ron Peterlin Memorial Scholarship at the Illinois Valley Community College Foundation annual award dinner on Wednesday, September 10.
Devyn Castelli: Attending IVCC has been instrumental in helping Devyn decide on his career path as a Physical Therapist. After finishing at IVCC he hopes to further his education at a school with a strong Kinesiology program such as University of Illinois Champaign and eventually receiving his DPT (doctor of physical therapy). A thank you from Devyn: “I would like to start by saying thank you to the Peru Rotary Club. This award has greatly reduced the typical amount of stress placed on me by the upcoming school year. That being said, it will also help me to pursue my planned future career and for that I am forever grateful.

Leonidas Bruins: While still weighing his options it was an aviation class at IVCC that put him in the mindset of pursuing a career flying planes, learning the mechanics of flight, and more. While not fully decided on aviation Leo is also intrigued by the possibilities of a career in law enforcement and even working for the FBI. A thank you from Leo: “Thank you for choosing me for this scholarship. It is an honor to accept the scholarship. The money from the scholarship with help a lot with books and help with paying for classes. Once again thank you so much for choosing me for the scholarship.
