At its June 10 regular weekly meeting, the Rotary Club of Rock Island made a $10,000 gift in memory of longtime Rotary member and leader Anne McGlynn to the Quad City Botanical Center (QCBC) for immersive and experiential signage in its Children’s Garden. The gift in memory of Anne McGlynn was composed of memorial gifts collected from Rock Island Rotary Club members.
QCBC Executive Director Ryan Wille said the series of signs and learning cues will be placed along the Mini-Mississippi River in the Children’s Garden. They will teach visitors about different ecosystems and about pollinators, types of ponds and various types of plant life.

Anne R. McGlynn, who died in 2024, joined the Rock Island Rotary in 2007, and in 2013-14 she served as the club’s president. That year she set, and achieved, a goal for the club to raise $100,000 to fund construction of the Children’s Garden at QCBC. She was given the A.T. Peara Award, the Rock Island Rotary’s highest honor, for the year 2013.
