On June 7, 1989 the Ottawa Sunrise Club was formed when some members of Ottawa Noon saw a need for a breakfast club for those businessmen who could not easily walk away from their stores/offices at noon. Over 35 years their Toy & Book Float has collected over 17,000 books, 8,000 toys and over $11,000 to help the Salvation Army see that each child has a new toy at Christmas.
They have participated in numerous global and community grants, ran a pitching booth at Riverfest (92 MPH is still the record), participated in youth/study exchanges, summer exchanges, a yellow ribbon campaign during Desert Storm, and countless sundry projects in the community, actively participate in Rotary Foundation and Polio Plus campaigns, had a member serve as District Governor (Eldon Leemhuis). The list of contributions to Ottawa and Rotary is lengthy and significant. Here's to another great 35!
