District 6420 – 2022-2023 District-wide Service Project – Nothing Reads Like a Book!
As part of our District’s new strategic plan, we are committed to implementing a District-wide service project each Rotary year.
For the 2022-2023 Rotary year, the District-wide service project will extend the good work of our District’s Literacy Committee by asking each Rotarian in our District to donate one new book to a local library.
As a result, we hope to donate more than 1400 books to local libraries and hopefully make a difference in the lives of many youth and adults.

Each club is asked to consider which local library they would like to work with - local public libraries, school libraries, libraries in health care facilities, literacy councils, or libraries in other community facilities – are all possibilities.
Then talk with the person in charge of the book collection for that library to determine which books they need the most.
Most libraries have a wish list of books they want but do not have the resources to obtain. After that ask each member to donate a book on the list or the club can decide to purchase a book for every member. Clubs may also choose to let the local library purchase the needed books to get the best price per book.
It is up to each club to decide what works best for them. All clubs should make sure to share their book project on local and social media and try to complete the project by June 1 of 2023. Remember – Nothing Reads Like a Book!
