District 6420 – New Youth Protection Policy

In February of 2022 District leadership approved a new youth protection policy.
This policy is consistent with Rotary International’s Youth Protection Guide and applies to all District 6420 activities that involve youth except for Rotary Youth Exchange which has its own set of youth protection measures.

The new policy strives to create and maintain a safe environment for all youth who participate in Rotary service projects or any other Rotary activity.

To the best of their ability, Rotarians and other volunteers must safeguard the children and young people they come into contact with and protect them from physical, sexual, and psychological abuse.

As a result of the new policy, the President-Elect of every club has signed an agreement to abide by each aspect of the policy.

In addition, all PEs are required to review RI’s Youth Protection Guide and to complete RI’s Protecting Youth Program Participants online course.

Any Rotarian to whom the policy applies  will also be required to review RI’s Youth Protection Guide, complete RI’s Protecting Youth Program Participants online course, and undergo a background check (paid for by the District) prior to working with youth.
