The Galena Rotary Club recently hosted a ski weekend at Chestnut Mountain Resort for seven exchange students, five inbounds and two outbounds. Participating from the Galena Rotary Club was Cata Mauro, a high school sophomore from Argentina. She’s pictured with Brian Schoenrock, Galena Rotarian and past president.
Other Rotary Clubs sending students included Moline, Illinois Valley Sunrise, Mendota and Loves Park. Students enjoyed a day of skiing, followed by pizza at the local Country Inn & Suites and use of the pool, thanks to Rotarian and Inn Manager Emma Jane Mayer. Other Galena Rotarians assisting were Emily Doland, Paula Petersburg and Jon Checker. Galena Rotarian Caprinia Abt hosted the students overnight at her home. Assisting from the Moline club was Gary Francque.
