Rotary District 6420 is proud to share that our commitment to ending hunger reached two major milestones this month, with donations to both Northern Illinois Food Bank and River Bend Food Bank—together providing tens of thousands of meals to neighbors in need.

First, the District contributed $3,972.67 to Northern Illinois Food Bank, helping provide over 15,000 meals to families and individuals across Winnebago County. The donation was presented by District Governor Melissa McCormick, Past District Governor John Hurley, District Governor-Elect Tina Curtis, Rotarian Marta Hurley, and Jessica Stanley-Asselmeier, Director of Corporate & Foundation Giving for the Food Bank. “Rotary District 6420 is committed to serving our community and ensuring that no one goes hungry,” said McCormick. “Through this partnership, we’re able to make a meaningful difference for our neighbors during challenging times.” The District also gave $3,972.67 to River Bend Food Bank in Moline, supporting a $10,000 Matching Challenge from the Moline Regional Community Foundation. This means our donation will be doubled—multiplying its impact in the fight against hunger. The presentation was attended by Past District Governor Dave Emerick, Samantha Sancen, Donor Relations Manager, and Avery Owens, Development Director.
“This is a perfect example of how Rotary can leverage partnerships to multiply our impact,” said Emerick. These donations reflect Rotary’s dedication to Service Above Self and showcase the power of collaboration.
By partnering with established food banks and community foundations, Rotary District 6420 continues to lead the way in creating lasting change throughout northern Illinois. A heartfelt thank-you to our members—it’s through your service, generosity, and commitment to our mission that we are able to make a difference in the lives of so many. Every hour volunteered, every project supported, and every dollar given adds up to hope for our neighbors.
