We share sadness for another departed Past District Governor, David Bills, of the River Cities Club. His term as Governor was 2021-2022, and a mentor for me as I entered the Governor Line as Governor Nominee. David passed away on March 5 while in hospice care after a long illness. Dave was a retired educator, like myself, serving in several school districts.  He retired his fulltime career as Superintendent of Riverdale Schools in Port Byron.  Our support and sympathy are with his wife of 52 years, Sandee, their children, family and friends.
On a happier note, it is April and time for Clubs to start preparations for a new season of tending their pollinator plots.  The new District Committee, Environmental Services, is ready and anxious to provide advice and support for club pollinator projects. Look for an article from the committee elsewhere in this newsletter. The committee chair, PDG Bobbi Burke, can be reached at bobbi.burke6420@gmail.com.

We also have good news regarding another Rotary and District focus, Literacy.  This year, the annual District Literacy Awards, will be given out at the District Training Assembly, May 17, Salk Valley College.  With gratification, we will be giving out fourteen awards in four categories.  We are pleased  that the number of awards is increasing significantly.

Lastly, I’m please to hear from RI that a total of nineteen District 6420 Rotarians are registered for this year’s International Convention in Calgary.  It’s not to late to register so come and experience an international conference.  It’s experience like no other.  A registration link is on the RI Web site.
