District Conference Service Project – Focus on Literacy

DISTRICT 6420 HELPING UKRAINIAN CHILDREN!

Since February 2022, Ukrainian children have been forced to leave their homes and schools.  One destination has been the Ukrainian Village in Chicago.

With the start of the 2022-2023 school year many of these children are now attending local schools and need to learn English as quickly as possible.  Two primary schools in the Ukrainian Village have experienced drastic increases in enrollment – to the point that they do not have all the resources they need to support their newly enrolled students.

The principals of these schools have expressed the need for new books.

During our District Conference a book fair will be set up by Usborne Books and More featuring books specifically selected by the two schools.

All conference attendees will have the opportunity to purchase new books that will be delivered to the schools following the District Conference.

Please note:  As a sign of true corporate generosity and in support of the Ukrainian refugees, for every $2 Rotarians spend at the book fair, Usborne Books and More will donate an additional $1 worth of books to the students in these two schools.

Please consider asking your club for a small donation to supplement your book purchases.
