It takes a village, and maybe a few pilots to make this work but it’s certainly worth the effort! August 20th Belvidere Rotarians hosted our “Bomber Bingo”.
This annual fund raiser is held during the Poplar Grove’s Airport Fly-in. Imagine a grid on the field with squares and corresponding ticket holders rooting for their space to be “bombed”. Pilots and bombardiers fly over and drop brown bags filled with flour. When the bomb hits a spot, a winner is declared.
Yes, it helps support our scholarships but there’s so much more that this event brings to our club, exposure. So many people are unaware of what Rotary is let alone what we do to support our local communities and internationally. This gives us a chance to share our mission when we sell tickets and to the hundreds of people that come out to the airport for this fun-filled event. It also serves as good opportunity for member recruitment.
Taking Service ABOVE Self, literally!
