On October 29th, 2025 Peru Rotary Club, along with partner clubs Illinois Valley Sunrise and LaSalle, in association with the Dictionary Project, conducted its 17th annual dictionary delivery. Around a dozen Rotarians distributed 456 dictionaries to third graders at 15 local schools.
Peru Rotary introduced the Dictionary Project to its club, and began partnering with the Illinois Valley Sunrise and LaSalle clubs, in 2008. Initially, the three clubs delivered dictionaries to third grade students in the LaSalle-Peru High School district. Since then the project has expanded to include schools from Bureau, Livingston, and Clinton counties.
Since its inception, our local Dictionary Project has helped promote literacy and inspired learning in the Illinois Valley and beyond by hand-delivered 8,232 dictionaries to third grade students in 15 area schools!
