The 2023-2024 District 6420 Foundation Dinner was held on November 2, 2023 at the McCormick Event Center in Rockfalls. What a wonderful evening!
District Rotary Foundation Chair, Laura Kann, awarded the River Cities and Rockton/Roscoe Rotary Clubs with two banners from the Rotary Foundation for achieving Every Rotarian Every Year status and 100% Foundation Giving status during the 2022-2023 Rotary year. Both clubs gave an average of $100 to the Annual Fund with every member contributing at least $25.
Three clubs were also honored by the Rotary Foundation for their per capita giving to the Annual Fund during the 2022-2023 Rotary year. These clubs were Moline with an average per capita giving of $348, Pecatonica with an average per capita giving of $570, and Princeton with an average per capita giving of $3604. Congratulations to all these clubs for their generous contributions to our Rotary Foundation!
The keynote speaker was Greg E. Podd, a current Rotary Foundation Trustee. Greg is a retired CPA having operated his own practice since 1979. Greg became a Rotarian in May 1982 and is a member of the Evergreen Rotary Club in Colorado. He has held a variety of positions in Rotary beyond the club level. Most importantly, he previously served as a Rotary International Director from 2014-2016 and Rotary International Vice President from 2015-2016. Greg and his wife, Pam, have been married for more than 47 years and have three children and 4 special grandchildren. Greg and Pam are Arch C. Klumph Society Members.
Greg gave an inspiring and motivating presentation about the power of our Rotary Foundation and the impact it has on the lives of so very many people throughout the world. Through a series of heart-warming stories Greg emphasized the value of giving at least a little on an annual basis to our Rotary Foundation. He encouraged all of us to make sure that the Rotary Foundation was on our charitable giving list.
